Happy New Year, Betty. Thanks for the storm story. Having lived in Los Gatos I can appreciate the novelty of a storm like the one you describe in a place like Los Gatos. Were in talking about Connecticut, the story would be common place……we had our chimney thrown into our front yard and the attic engulfed in fire by an electrical storm one night in CT. Our neighbors, who were on the volunteer fire department, came to our rescue immediately and put out the fire. After our house was rebuilt (it was brand new and we had just moved in when the storm hit), we spent many times in our basement waiting for another similar storm to pass by. Fortunately, no more lightening strikes…..we had put up six lightening rods when the house was rebuilt.

Rob, good grief. Your storm story gives me goosebumps. But my worst dreams were about tornadoes. I’ll take Los Gatos storms and “small” earthquakes before living in tornado country again.
